Bill Brach

As a photography student at San Francisco State University in the mid-1960s, Bill Brach photographed the burgeoning hippie scene in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district, with an emphasis on environmental portraiture.

His work, which has been digitized for the first time, includes photographs of Chet Helms, The Hell’s Angels, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and many others at the epicenter of the 1960s counter-culture movement.
