InterviewMehmet Barlas discusses post modern war of information

Mehmet Barlas: Discusses the Post-Modern War (the war of information) and the importance of Media as seen by new journalism on television in order to create a "second-front" of war in the homes of viewers. Starting from Vietnam and "the Walter Cronkites" where journalists were imbedded with troops to Desert Storm where press conferences and video feeds came from D.C., Brussels, and Baghdad in order to control information allotted for the public.
The Turkish government in 1997 to declare a religious threat regarding the use of headscarves then utilized this system of media warfare. By creating a panic, they were able to create a new party that was able to ban the article of religious clothing by controlling the media in order to achieve their goal through fear mongering.
