InterviewAnother story about a woman elected into parliament upon being sworn in subject to prejudice

Mehmet Barlas: Another story about a woman elected into parliament who upon being sworn in was subject to prejudice. At which point the parliament became disrupted, she left for the day, and a council decided to revoke her citizenship, thereby removing her new and old position as a deputy. After regaining citizenship through marriage, they refused to return her old deputyship and she left for the United States. This blatant disregard for the political process will never happen again in Turkey as the old party has disbanded into two: an orthodox and liberal party. All this leads to the idea that authoritarian states do not care about elections so long as they maintain the power to act accordingly with their own agenda.
